| Would one forum for programming discussion outside of bots be acceptable? Like if I wanted to ask an advanced programmer a question that I can't find an answer to anywhere else. I'm not suggesting a chat forum, just something for questions/answers and support. I understand my idea may be unrealistic. |

| Yeah I agree with MeltingWax, its messed up how we don't have a small part of the forum where its not bot related. Honestly what is chat forum for if we can talk about anything we want. I know this is a bot forum but damn lighten up on the rules about everything being about bots. |

Me agrees too theres only so much people can talk about bots...as long as it didnt take over the bot stuff i think it would make people more active one here....It would just have to be trialed and see how it goes? |

Hey, that's never stopped me. I often post about all kinds of programming things in general (like I'd posted things about running an HTTP daemon with Perl/CGI support, and running an SMTP and POP3 server, neither of which is related to bots).
But a forum specifically for it would be a good idea still. _________________ Current Site (2008) http://www.cuvou.com/ |

I think that's a great idea. A general chat forum would help the community aspect of the place, or if that's not wanted then a non-bot programming forum would be nice too. It would keep people here for longer stretches of time and I'm sure it would end up causing increased activity across the board. Like a few others have said, why not at least give it a trial? If we like it we can keep it, if it sucks like rep points did then it can go. No harm done. |

This topic is not requesting a general chat forum. I think a general chat forum would ruin the professionalism here. People would come here just to post in that forum and then brag about having one thousand posts on a programming message board.
I guess I'll use the perl forum for questions now, unless something else is made . Thanks. |

In a moment of weakness I have added it.
BTW do you think the rules have always been like this? I can promise you that things are the way they are because of past expereinces. Bot-depot started out much more general, rules where only added when they became needed to keep any sense of order. _________________ Eric256
