I have created a self-updating database of information about all of the Simpson's episodes. This simple service will query that database.

What it can accept:
  • Episode number
  • Season and Episode number
  • Season number
  • Season production code
  • Word or phrase (to be matched against the name of the episode and synopsis)
If more than one episode is found it returns a list of episodes it found. If just one episode is matched then it returns all the data from that episode.

usage:

where [data] is one of the things mentioned above ^^^

examples:
  • http://www.thomashp.com/bw/simpsons.cgi?direct=season%201
  • http://www.thomashp.com/bw/simpsons.cgi?direct=season%201%20episode%205
  • http://www.thomashp.com/bw/simpsons.cgi?direct=235

Nice service, but you need to fix the sorting on Seasons:

Quote:
Matches for: season 1
1 - S1E1 - 7G08 - The Simpson's Christmas Special: Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire
2 - S1E2 - 7G02 - Bart the Genius
3 - S1E3 - 7G03 - Homer's Odyssey
10 - S1E10 - 7G10 - Homer's Night Out
4 - S1E4 - 7G04 - There's No Disgrace Like Home
11 - S1E11 - 7G13 - The Crepes of Wrath
5 - S1E5 - 7G05 - Bart the General
12 - S1E12 - 7G12 - Krusty Gets Busted
6 - S1E6 - 7G06 - Moaning Lisa
13 - S1E13 - 7G01 - Some Enchanted Evening
7 - S1E7 - 7G09 - The Call of the Simpsons
8 - S1E8 - 7G07 - The Telltale Head
9 - S1E9 - 7G11 - Life on the Fast Lane (a.k.a. Jacques to Be Wild)

I know you know how to do this Razz but you can just use a numeric sort, sort { $a <=> $b } @numbers; # sort on the listing number

A really smart person could take this service and build a command around it which lets you search for episodes then get more detailed info about episodes that match. Razz

Alienz and Matt:
The data is from tvtome.com. However, I'm running a cron job on the server that updates a local database, so if any of the info changes (like new episodes) the database will be updated as well.

Mojave:
Well the database is sorting it, I just need to get the info into an array rather than a hash so I keep the sorting.

LOL That was the first thing I thought of when I saw Mojave's post. sort(@array) seems so much easier Razz
