Bots running on linux

Hi all, I'm new here, actually Im using Linux distro Kubunto 6.06, I've never tried running an MSN bot on linux .. so what should I do?

I'd aprecciate any help possible ... as I just said, once I tried MayaBot on Windows, but I guess I'll need different files on Linux

Most bots should work fine on both Windows and Linux, unless they use platform-specific libraries such as anything Win32::

What have you tried so far?

no one :S its been a long time since the last time ... any suggestion?

Mayabot wont work "out of the box" on linux because the first time you run the bot it tries to write to the windows registry to associate .maya (or something similar) files with notepad, as it uses renamed text files for its commands. It shouldnt be too hard as it uses some external script file to do the actual writing, so just open it up and removed the code references to that. Im not sure if maya ever got updated for the new msn.pms either though, so youll probably have to implement AuthPP3 at the least.

Youd be best to just get the latest msn.pm and give echobot a test, if you want to make your own bot from scratch then its as good a starting place as any.
