Planning to make a IRC-bot.

Hi,

I am planning to make a IRC bot,
and i have thought that u might help me with the beginner decisions.

First of all, the biggest question, what language would be the best for me to start with?

I would like to learn a language that is possibly simple and suitable for making Irc-bot.
I have very little knowledge about PHP, that is all i know.

Hi there,

Im not to sure about what IRC bots are coded in, but im pretty sure you could do it in perl. This forum is basicly based on this language - so im sure someone will know how to help you.

At the moment the forums dead, hardly anyone visits anymore. So its best to try and pm/email some of the more advanced members, Eric, Cer, Ceibe etc.

You can make it in any language you wish, however some will be easier than others. For instance, Perl has modules such as Net::IRC and an IRC kernal which will help you get started. If you know a little PHP, then Perl's not such a great step away. However, you could also try Python (what Google uses as their backend language Smile

) or C++...anything. If you want a simple question and answer bot, you could even just run MIRC and use the scripting language in that.
