Hello everyone,
I've been trying for some time to create a decent chat bot for MSN Messenger. I'd like a bot that will be somewhat intelligent, and learn as it goes. Can anyone tell me what would be the best thing to do, or does anyone have any recommendations?
Try using the Blab module, which is available from Botwork.com.
You'll need to know basic Perl to use it, but that will talk to a user based on it's current knowledge, and learn as it goes. It may give slightly random answers, but the more it's trained, the more it worked.
The Trigger module is also good (Botwork, too), but that won't learn, and needs exact phrases to respond.
The Banter module is just...no. Don't use that.
On other sites there will be other modules, but I'm not sure how many of them learn, nor your level of understanding of Perl. Look on Cpan for Chatbot::Alpha, Chatbot::Eliza and maybe any other chatbots you can find (search for "Chatbot").
These modules will work on their own in command prompt, not on MSN. You'll need to use a template (see the Templates section of this site) or create your own using the MSN.pm.
White Warrior 1.0 (removed in 2.0 Lite) has all three chatbots (Trigger, Blab and Banter) in it, and is available from http://darkmonkey.org.uk/White_Warrior_1.zip _________________ ~ Josh
