To answer your actual question. you want to use timeouts. MSN.pm actualy does block, it just does it for very short periods of time. I could find the place in the actual code if you need, but look for where it is reading from the socket and you will see a small decimal in there somwhere (been a while and i don't remember specific's.) _________________ Eric256

mattaustin showed/explained how it worked to me and I'm now well on my way. Although I believe I have to tweak my receiving code (ATM it doesn't handle payloads command as I think it should do) but that should be a minor thing.
