Here's an idea for a new board on Bot-Depot:

Bot conversation logs!

All our bots have some funny/smart conversations with users from time to time, and reading other bots' conversations gives us ideas for new triggers to add to our own bots' brains. So have a forum where people can post their bot's conversations.

Forum Rules
1. One topic per bot. If somebody starts more than one topic for the same bot, the newer topic would be deleted.
2. All replies in one thread should only be about other conversations people have had with that bot.
3. Any replies in somebody's thread that don't relate to that bot's conversations would be deleted.
4. When posting bot conversations, anonymize it (replace usernames with "user" or something along those lines).

So what do y'all think?

I think that someone could take it one step farther. I know DM made a perl code to post messages on invision boards. Maybe someone could do that for phpBB. Then, you could add a command that would let you view the logs, and another command to let you add the funny ones to a file. That file would be run through the posting code and edited into the thread on Bot-Depot.

That just an idea, but the forum sounds great.

Neutral Your post sounds like somebody said DM didn't write any such code and you're trying to prove them wrong.

Anyway, I don't think anyone would really care to go through the trouble to have their bot send its conversation logs and have them pick parts of it to have automatically posted on the forum.

It's not that hard to open your log files, copy/paste a chunk of text and post on here.

This topic's about the idea of there being a forum, not about how to be ub3r l33t h4x0rs and come up with the most complexly pointless way of posting them.

I'm not so interested in seeing a bunch of funny bot logs. They keep me amused for maybe 5 minutes and then I move on. What seems to be of much more VALUE for us bot developers is to create a database of what users reply to our bots' messages. That is, we should have a simple system, where bots can "post" a bot/user message/reply pair. Then we have a site where we (the developers) and even the bots themselves can search the pairs to find out what things users say in response to triggers. This can even be used as an extension to an Alice type bot. If you build up enough input/output pairs, you can even then do pattern analysis on all of that content and create even more useful tools.
