We can always post things that are needed and then carry on from there...
Even the members could be cleaned out, we could register again...
a whole new fresh start might bring around a new approach, bring some people back?
Something defiantly needs to be done to try and restore it back to the good ole' days..
Plus whats happened with signature now? it wont allow my signature that i currently have which i cant find a problem with! |
Sorry to bring up an old topic but this seems the best idea to me!
Also why change from IPB to phpBB? |

I actually think its a million times less secure....i helped with 2 or 3 exploits in IPB, and now that they charge for it, the open source community has almost completely died. The biggest problem was switching, if this was a new forum, if this was a new forum from scratch there would be a lot less issues.
Second phpbb is what eric (the admin) wanted to do and because he hosts and runs it (and would have to pay for it) all i think its completely up to him not a vote.
If you have any real points about why phpbb is not secure im sure we would all love to here them, because i know of 2 open exploits in IPB right now. |

| I personally like phpBB a lot more. I think it looks better, and I feel it is easier to administrate (especially with EasyMod installed). But if someone feels there should be an ipb forum, why not make it yourself? You could start your own forum and be in complete control of it. |

As matt noted there are two reasons for the swtich.
1. The IPB was always getting hacked, were do you think the downloads went?
2. They want me to pay for IPB even when it has such bad security. If i'm going to have bad security it may as well be on a free board that i can update and fix the security whole in (as i have done with several exploits in the software now running on bot-depot.) _________________ Eric256
