Hi!

I am quite new to bot-programming, and I would be entirely new to programming in general if it wasn't for good old QBASIC when I was a kid which helped me learn a bit about how programming works (if not the specific commands required). I definitely am not going to waste everyone's time in this forum asking questions that could be answered by an online Perl tutorial or book, so don't hate me because of my lack of experience. B) Anyway, what got me started with this was that I wanted to be able to create a bot for AIM that could get RSS feeds off of the recent posts at livejournal and pick out random sentences to use in conversation. I also, somewhat more ambitiously, want to try to program a basic grammatical system into a bot, but thats not the idea.

I guess what I am trying to ask is if it is possible to use RSS feeds and manipulate them in this way.

If Perl is a language you can work with, CPAN is the place to look for RSS modules and all sorts of other useful things.
