I once wrote a Perl chat room (it worked kind of like PHP chats do, refreshing the page periodically and/or when you send a message). I stopped when I had problems with the files, to later find out how my server works. My server executes Perl scripts locally (in the Program Files folder for the server) so I can't use "./" or it thinks I'm referring to "Program Files/Xerver/" lol But I'll eventually make another one lol.

I quite like this Idea I think it would increase the users how would you get a chat built into invision board? A crack or something.

It doesn't necessarily have to be built in, they could make a "/chat" folder or something on their site and link to it.
