hi i was wandering if you could help me do a shout command for my bot, by shout i mean sending a message to all open conversations, could someone please help?

and to save creating a new topic, another thing i want is a way of telling how many people are using my bot

For the amount of people using your bot, you'll have to go by seeing how many were "active" in the last 5 or 10 minutes or so. You'll have to either create a hash or save to a text file for each user, and have it save localtime() and then just compare that time to the current time. If it's less than 5 or 10 minutes, add one for the current users number.

for how many people are talking to it, you can add something in msn.pm to catch JOI commands which meens someone new is talking to it, and on BYE meens they stopped

i am really not sure, i wish John would come on msn sometime soon, i think you know john (Owner of DestructiveChild) he normally tries to help me with things(giving me tips), i hope he comes on soon i got the money i owe him for the blacklist command

Scott that coding is very dodgy looking and wouldn't work.

on JOI you would simply add to a var like $users++; then $users--; when they leave.

I can't believe you're paying someone for code when we can help you all you need here Wink . Isn't DC the bot that makes you pay to become a moderator? :blink:

actually yes and i am trying out that idea on my bot, i think i am gonna scrap it tho cos no one seems to be wanting to pay

and i think john said something about Lucida using the Blacklist aswell, did you have to pay for it?

lucida doesnt use it, i wrote out some code to access it, but nothing ever happened with it, and as if wed pay for some shitty service we could write easy enough ourself

Agreed, you shouldn't pay for a service that anybody could write.

I created a nice FREE blacklist service about 6 months ago that anybody could add names to and that tracked the MOST blacklisted names and that even prevented abuse of the blacklist service. Users of the service could add and remove names, get a listing of their blacklisted names, check whether someone was blacklisted and by how many bots and decide for themselves whether to accept IMs from those users.

But, nobody seemed interested even in a FREE service like this, so I turned if off.

nono.

i said id code the usage in perl for dosh Razz - the thing itself was free and required simple query parameters on the end of a url.

but the thing itself even i dont use. i dont like the idea of other bots controlling my lists of banned *lazy*. especially not lucida, *lazy* heard stories about them Razz .

Johno is really beginning to annoy me. He already ruined two other topics, which both are closed now, and here he is with his random accusations again.

Keenie programmed a version or two of the MSN module, then Eric and others modified it and reprogrammed some stuff. Just because they couldn't help you with your IO sockets doesn't mean they really didn't know how to do it. It's like in math when you go through like 10 steps to solve a problem, then look back at the original problem and say "Oh, why'd I do so much work? I could've done that in one step!"

So you should either grow up, stop making random accusations, or leave. Or eventually get banned. Your choice.

they arent random, infact you can attempt to confirm any of them if you have the brain potential.

i didnt ask for help on sockets. i gave the help on sockets, because nobody else at this forum seems to know anything.

and i think ill choose to leave, hardly anyone seems to post anything useful, if anything at all, here anyway Smile
