Okay, I am making something to send a chat invite to everybody in a list. I have the code all ready except for the chat_invite thing, lol. I have tried looking at www.cpan.org to see if my method is correct, and it looks like it... Heres what I have written down:
| Code: | | $aim->chat_invite("Chat", "Join!", $victim); |
Any ideas? :blink: |

If i remember correctly the chat_invite command takes the chat ID number. In the future you will get better help if you explain whats not working. _________________ Eric256

In Net::OSCAR you can just send the room name, and I <*lazy*>never*lazy*> got it working with Net::AIM. _________________ Current Site (2008) http://www.cuvou.com/ |

Well it did work for Net::AIM, many of use had chatroom games, and i'm pretty sure for Net::AIM you need to use the room id that you got when you joined or created that room. _________________ Eric256

On my Net-AIM bot I just tried making it send chat invites from the beginning right after it signs on. _________________ Current Site (2008) http://www.cuvou.com/ |

And well... it didn't work. I don't know of any ways to make the bot join a room under its own "free will" on Net::AIM, it has to be invited. And after some higher power has invited the bot to the room, then it should be able to invite others. _________________ Current Site (2008) http://www.cuvou.com/ |

I think part of the confusion may be your idea of rooms. On AIM (like MSN) there are two types of chat rooms. There are the aim ones which run on an exchange, (which you can tell it to join, don't remember how but i could prob look it up), and then there are rooms that people start themselves. The rooms that people start can be joined just by usind the room name, the rooms that aim has have to be joined in a special manner. There is NO reason a bot should ever be joining the special rooms anyway so it should be a problem. If the room doesn't exists, then the bot can create it, and then uses the ID to invite people. Sorry long time since i've done AIM stuff, had to brush away the cob webs. _________________ Eric256

The thing with exchanges aren't for just "special rooms", what they do is make sure you get into the room no matter what. For example, "Sports Chat", if the first room (Sports Chat) has enough room for you, you join that room. If it's full, you join "Sports Chat 1", and if that room's full too you join "Sports Chat 2" and so-on.
I think the exchange for that type of joining is 16, I heard other exchange numbers have different effects on the room or something. _________________ Current Site (2008) http://www.cuvou.com/ |

That would be the special part of the room, i don't think you can just makeup a room name and have it still add new rooms, dunno. IF you have a site with info a link would be nice. _________________ Eric256
